Bush Gives McCain credit 4 GI Bill he Opposed

Ok this is really frustrating. So I was watching MSNBC and OMG breaking news Bush is signing the GI Bill.  Then towards the end of Bush’s little speech he mentions some of those most responsible for the bill, and then towards the end he mentions McCain, as working on the GI Bill, for proof that he never supported this GI Bill click here http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d110:SN00022:@@@P You will notice that McCain’s name isn’t on the bill as a co-sponsor… that means McCain DIDN’T SUPPORT THE BILL.  Not only did he not become a cosponsor for the bill but, he didn’t even bother to vote for or against the bill while Hillary and obama both took time from campaigning to vote for the bill which they also cosponsored. http://gibill2008.org/state.html

McCain has also frustrated me because last week he took credit for the GI Bill, so Im going to present you with a series of youtube videos providing a chronological look through this GI bill

Here is Chris Matthews, host of Hardball with his guest talking about the GI bill.  Obama attacks McCain rightfully so for not supporting the bill and McCain responds by attacking Obama personally and not answer the question why he won’t support the bill. To learn more about why McCain doesn’t support the bill click here

Next McCain takes credit for supporting the bill during a town hall meeting in Ohio.  Here is proof that McCain never co-sponsored the bill and here’s proof shown by the absence of his name as a co-sponsor of Jim Webb’s GI bill http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d110:SN00022:@@@P.

Not only that but, he didn’t even bother to show up to vote for the bill.  Why is he taking credit for the bill?  Is McCain a pander bear, political opportunist, I think so.  But, seriously this is ridiculous and I wish the press would stop loving McCain and call him out on this.

Next President Bush who also opposed the GI bill but, today sign it and congratulated McCain for his “bipartisan” support.  He didn’t even support it.  Is Bush playing politics with the GI Bill because I can’t believe he is playing games like this.  He should be congratulating Jim Webb who has been pushing for Bush to sign this bill for seven, 7, years now.  McCain has been in the senate for 20 years and didn’t work on anything close to a GI bill and suddenly his name gets mentioned, when Chuck Hagel (a fellow republican/veteran) wasn’t even mentioned,

Obama and Clinton both did more for this bill then McCain did and Bush didn’t even bother to mention them, this is ridiculous.  McCain’s name is nowhere on that bill and Bush should be ashamed of himself for even mentioning McCain’s name as a supporter of this bill and I am just disgusted.

I just read the speech Bush gave today after he signed the bill and at the bottom I noticed he named McCain as one who has made it possible and supported the bil. But like you said, he opposed the bill from the beginning. What a bunch of hogwash these guys are playing, I’m baffled that this is what politics has come to and that McCain can stand by this like he has these past couple of weeks–after the bill was obviously going to be pushed through. Looks like this is the kind of politics they’re going to play. Thanks for the post. I’m glad someone else noticed it too.

If I remember correctly, it was Senator Webb that introduced this. I never heard McCain’s name attached to it until today. After hearing Cheney says he’s not part of the Executive Branch of gov’t…nothing surprises me.

    You have a great site!

I’ve said for years … “if Bush’s mouth is open, you know he’s lying” … so what do you expect, a spotless leopard ?
