Ouch, NY Times reject editorial by McCain

Media bias, McCains insufficient writing skills, NYT just being mean, who knows until they tell us.  But this is a big lose for McCain.  The Drudge Report, reports that Shipley, who worked in the Clinton administration now working at NYT wanted a piece that “mirrored” Obama’s editorial piece. Heres Shipley reason for not accepting McCain’s editorial

.

Shipley, who is on vacation this week, explained his decision not to run the editorial.’The Obama piece worked for me because it offered new information (it appeared before his speech); while Senator Obama discussed Senator McCain, he also went into detail about his own plans.’

Shipley continues: ‘It would be terrific to have an article from Senator McCain that mirrors Senator Obama’s piece. To that end, the article would have to articulate, in concrete terms, how Senator McCain defines victory in Iraq.’

##UPDATE##

apparently mccain’s op-ed was a disgrace and the NYT lays out in detail why they did McCain a favor in not printing his op-ed and trust me its a good reason. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/07/21/inew-york-timesi-spares-m_n_114117.html

Obama’s editorial piece laid out a clear vision for what it means to have success for the war on terror.  McCain’s editorial piece (original) didn’t lay out a specific meaning of success in the war on terror, which was the point of the NYT wanting the editorial for.  I can understand why it wouldn’t have been accepted.  McCain in his editorial only talked about what was wrong with Obama rather then what he plans to do specifically in Iraq.  McCain may be able to get away with telling us his specific plans in townhall meetings and speeches but apparently he can’t get away with it in the NYTimes.

I’d actually contend that this is a win for McCain.
NYT has not been kind to McCain, especially in the breaking open of his suspicious ties to a certain lobbyist.
Now he can claim bias on any of the reporting NYt puts out against him and say that there is a pro-Obama slant to the news.

True, but I think they were going to do that anyways. Republicans always say that the media is against them. It probably will help McCain rally the base a little. But this media bias crying I think is slowly getting annoying with some people.
