Nice but the Economy is your better issue, use it, Iraq is too iffy, deregulating everything while building 30-40 Nuclear Reactors has the potential to make Iraq look like a bump in the road (in my humble opinion)

Right the economy is the most important issue. But, people should understand that the economy is effected by what happens in iraq. And I think that Americans can give both the economy and war the same amount of attention, rather then focusing on one issue. Single Issue Voters Are LOSERS

The economy is important. So are our lives, and the stability of the world (and the stability of the President).

People should understand that John McCain plans to have a forced occupation of Iraq despite what the government there now wants. He’s refusing any withdrawal plans, and refuses to even say what “victory” to him means.

The Republicans plan to have us invade Iran even at the cost of our forces in Afghanistan.

THANK YOU! This has become my biggest push on McCain. Foreign policy is his strength? Then what does that say about the thousand other things that the president is responsible for?

  5. Posted August 12, 2008 at 2:03 pm | Permalink | Reply

Great, point I never heard anyone make before, ReyMac

Its true, like on every other issue that doesn’t involve the war, McCain loses to Obama. If McCain wins, then those thousand other things a president is supposed to be responsible for will go by the wasteside and it will all be about fighting other countries.
I don’t think foreign affairs and handling wars are really McCain’s best suit. I just think being able to get us into a war is McCain’s strong suit.

John McCain is way too stick oriented for me. The Iraqi’s have agreed to Obama’s Timetable, McCain won’t beat that but Iran is another problem. Israel will act on that herself with or with out McCain or Obama, but McCain scares me there also, but we have less control over Israel than we realize, so I stick to the idea that more nukes in my backyard under a administration that prizes deregulation is scary, especially after the coal mine disaster out west? It’s a major logical flaw, more Nukes, less regulation, meltdown in your hometown.

Oh, and uh, by the way ‘Sensico’, you misspelled affected in your first comment. This is your blog, right?

Actually Im an independent who supports Obama, Like there are Republicans who support Obama. You can try to diminish people who support Obama by calling them left-wing liberals, but that only shows that you aren’t an objective person.
And this is my blog, sorry I can’t be perfect.

I don’t feel that we are doing a good enough job exposing Ronald Reagan as a politician like anyone else. The Republicans hold him up like an Icon, and he was really just a response to FDR whom we need to hold up instead. All McCain’s positions on Diplomacy are based on Reagan’s handling of the USSR and Iran, but Russia is still there as is Iran as well as a much larger China? We need to figure out better ways of dealing with the “Morning in America” thing, it’s an attack on FDR and Obama and Hillary and Jimmy Carter and everything we value.

Good one, Hammerhead. Sensico also said something about going “by the waistside” . . .

I found the video boring, not “compelling.” Please — Obama supported the current Administration’s entry into Iraq.

Wow Billie and Hammerhead, playing gotcha games on spelling.
Didn’t know comments on blogs were subjected to such spelling scrutiny especially since you guys know what shes talking about.

Get over yourself. And the video was compelling, and I like how you guys completely weren’t able to comprehend the point of the video. Go back to middle school.

Tamy, typical to your party, you’ve blatantly ignored the real issue and have tried to play with smoke and mirrors. Again, I remind you and Sensico’s other “readers” that Obama supported the Iraq decisions by the Bush administration and — oh yeah — the Democratic Congress. At least, until those decisions became unpopular. Hopefully, there aren’t too many unthinking registered voters like you.

Yeah, being the spell police on blog comments isn’t cool. As, a blogger I can say that when your trying to respond to others comments and do some other things at the same time, you are bound to spell something wrong.

Also, I think the only reason these idiots are going after Sensico on spelling is because…the video is compelling and they know that McCain is a war president, and don’t want to say so. So, they attack someone over something as stupid as spelling, because they have no other substantive argument.

  23. JasonO08
    Posted August 13, 2008 at 1:21 pm | Permalink | Reply

Billie technically the fact that you attack someone over spelling is in fact a smoke and mirrors game.
And, nearly every democrat supported war spending. I don’t see why just because you oppose us being in Iraq, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t provide the troop in Iraq with funding.

  24. Fred
    Posted August 13, 2008 at 1:28 pm | Permalink | Reply

Yep, spell checking people’s comments is stupid and deflects from the real point.
Regards to Billie, Obama wasn’t in congress to vote for us to go into Iraq. And why wouldn’t people even if they don’t support us being in Iraq, not provide funding for the troops in Iraq.
If Bush isn’t going to pull out of Iraq, then you might as well provide these troops with funding so that they have materials to protect themselves.
Your Obama argument is kind of stupid.
Hammerhead-I am a republican supporting Obama. I have been a republican supporting Obama since Super Tuesday and I am happy to be a republican supporting Obama. Calling this blog left wing is a stretch seeing as you probably didn’t even read the rest of the blog.

Ahhhh, I get it – he only supported the funding. That’s true – that is the party line. Also, you should re-read my post. I didn’t say Obama was in Congress – I said he supported the administration’s and Congress’ decisions.

I’ve never posted here before but here goes: Hey Billie what PROOF do you have that Obama supported the war? I seem to recall that he was not a US senator when the vote was taken in October 2002. He was an Illinois state senator who gave a speech against the war, you know when it mattered before the war started. You remember at a time when any ideas contrary to the Bush admin was considered unpatriotic. When Clinton, Edwards and Kerry where voting for the war. Also remeber the vote was in oct 2002 a full 6 months before the invasion of Iraq in March 2003. Did anyone question the intel or the motivations then or consider those thousands who would die. Obama supports funding a war that was already in progress when he came to congress, what’s your point? And just so you all know where I’m coming from: I am a Black republican who likes McCain as an individual( academy grad, war hero, longtime senator,”maverick”) but his true stance on our troops bothers me. He has no plan for Iraq, rhetoric about victory are empty words to those of us whose family and friends actually serve. How will we achieve victory in Iraq and Afghanistan. And even more disturbing is that McCain voted AGAINST the new GI Bill that would increase benifits for those who serve. His reasoning is that the upgrades are so good that people will not stay in the military past their 4 year commitment. So McCain is actually for less benifits for those who have to actually fight and win these wars. Another is McCain taking credit for the surge: it has worked and it took “courage” on his part. Wrong: it took the courage of those soilders/marines who walked the patrols and fought he firefights. Because of this I will be voting for Obama.

    Michael of {August 13/08@4:41am},

    Michael my pet,
You have got that wrong…it is McCain’s mind set you need to worry about…not mine.

Your candidate McCain cares nothing about truth. He prefers his ancient school yard bulling tactics of name calling to Obama and anyone else who does not think like him.

As for graffiti, McCain’s mouth spews it every time he opens that sickening,
    prevaricating, mouth of his.

Furthermore, as a 75 year old white woman-I am more than well aware of crooked, conniving politicians like McCain.

This is a good point. I also think that the war and economy can be linked if in nothing else then in terms of wasted resources. The most appalling thing to all of this however is the fact, while republicans are believed to be strong on national security and defense issues; you can go back over the time during this war and see how little they have supported our troops. They have voted against mostly every request from The Veteran’s Administration for more money, They opposed the military’s request for more armored vehicles, and bullet proof vest to the point that soldiers are still dieing because they don’t have the proper equipment. The record is public look it up. They should get this information out to everyone, and eliminate this politcal urban legend. The fact is republicans want to fight wars, but paying for them and supporting the men and women who fight them are not thier concern.Hit back and hit back hard Dems now and until November.

Possibly, I almost think it’s what McCain is propped up with, No Reagan Myth No McCain? Obama has done excellently so far, but the attacks on Jimmy Carter hurt. They are ridiculous, but so much of politics is emotive, an untruth can win if it resonates in emotive spheres. It makes me nervous but I should just assume they know what they are doing in Chicago, they’ve gotten this far. But Carter is part of their swift boat 08 and we need to do something? Napoleon said he wanted “Luck” in his generals, Jimmy Carter is one of the finest examples of a Human Being I can think of, but he had bad “Luck” and I fear attacks from that angle. I’m Paranoid to an extent?

McCain scares the hell out of me. He will start other wars. That is all he talks about aside from his obsession with Obama.

McCain’s attempts to show his bona fides as a leader by threatening Russia
demonstrates he is being presumptuous never mind the US cannot back up those threats makes the US look weak and powerless. That alone proves McCain is unfit to lead.

Furthermore Randy Scheunemann, McCain’s senior foreign policy advisor, is a lobbyist for Georgia. He has received $900,000 from the Georgian government. McCain claims he speaks to Saa Kashvili, Georgia’s president, on a daily basis. Just what exactly what have they discussed? Did McCain make promises that cannot be kept?

Funny we never hear anything from So. Ossetia.

Georgia attacked South Ossetia first. Russia protects Ossetia. The Russians responded to the attack and the ten Russian peace keepers that were killed. Yet McCain would rather us believe that Russia had no right to come to Ossetia’s defense. Cheney stated this cannot go “unpunished”.

This is just insanity. They are playing with fire.

McCain’s bellicose statements against Iran and Russia should alarm every American. We do not need another Cold War muchless war with Iran. Scott Ritter is correct! If you thought 911 was bad, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

If you want perpetual war, McCain’s your man ….

Otherwise McCain is not fit for the job. And that is not rhetoric; it is a cold hard fact!

It amuses me to read these comments and all these people thinking there is any real difference between the candidates. There isn’t. Ron Paul was the only candidate to talk about topics that no politician has ever in the short history of this country.

What a compelling piece. This really should be shared with the nation at large. Yes, the economy is an important issue. But we all feel the effects of the economy in our daily lives, and most people understand our nation is entering a recession. We don’t really understand the horror that’s occurring outside the country until we review material like this. It may be bias, but its more the truth of the issues surrounding Iraq than not.

It would be nice if there was some objectivity involved here, claiming to be Independent and then publishing remarks that have been cut and spliced to change their meaning hardly constitutes an informed opinion. Without listening to complete speeches, this is nothing short of propoganda.

Anyone- even “grade schoolers” can figure out how to “Hollywood splice” video- so why do we even listen to people that try to scare people by twisting multiple speeches.. As a media major- I WOULD IMPLY THAT ALL YOU DUMB AMERICANS STOP BELIEVING WHAT YOU HEAR AND READ! Become a ‘REAL’ American and actually take self responsibility and learn about candidates by RESEARCH of the facts and their history of voting policies. Then you will see how ignorant ‘anonymous’ bloggers try to hide behind thier computers and their parent’s basement walls
