Well it is Saturday, and Im reading the latest political stories and there has been a lot going on since Obama’s address to congress and Bobby Jindal’s disaster or a rebuttal speech. Since I have a term paper, lab report, and exam on Monday it would be impossible for me to blog about all the things I wanna blog about. So heres some news items I wish I could blog about and that I recommend you read.

WASHINGTON - JUNE 19: U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning (...

This is my favorite for today. Republican Senator Bunning is pissed off at the republican leaders for alienating him. He hinted that if the republican leaders don’t support his bid for re-election then he will resign forcing the Gov. of Kentucky to pick the new senator giving the democrats 60 seats in the senate. There’s sooo many movie metaphors for this piece of drama, but the gist is don’t mess with Bunning LOL.

NEW YORK - JANUARY 30: Rush Limbaugh attends ...

Ok, this is great and I like the idea. So, last night I was watching CNN and happened to see a commercial with Rush Limbaugh’s treasonous [yeah I said it] remarks about how he wants Obama to fail. I caught the commercial towards the end, so I really didn’t get the gist of it. The commercial is an effort by democrats to paint Rush Limbaugh as the face of the republican party. The reason I like this idea is because it not only has an air of truth to it, but its just a damn good strategy when the republicans aren’t presenting any new ideas at this point. Also it makes republicans look stupid if they are relying on a radio personality for advice…just

sayin’

Waaaa! =O Sarah Palin backs a bill that would allow abortion…if the parent consents. I honestly have no problem with the idea of the bill. The problem is that she made it a priority that say that abortion in no circumstance should be allowed even in the case of rape and incest. I just find it odd, to be honest, the abortion stance probably hurt her with most women during the 2008 election, so she could be trying to look as moderate as possible on this issue to help her bid in 2012. Lets also be clear that this still doesn’t solve the issue of abortion in the case of rape or incest. I shouldn’t have to explain why either….

Obama Wins Big In Address To Congress, While Republicans Lose With Bobby Jindal

Bookmark Obama Wins Big In Address To Congress, While Republicans Lose With Bobby Jindal

_mg_0135-redI have never seen such a horrible speech after such a great speech before.  I was starting to buy the whole Bobby Jindal might be the republican’s Obama thing…but that notion obviously died when Jindal started to creep to the podium last night.  So, lets start with the good speech in which I mean Obama’s speech addressing the congress.

Obama did well in the polls taken after the speech.  In the CBS poll, 44% of viewers had a better view of Obama’s personal image.  When the following question was asked, “From what you’ve seen or heard tonight, do you think you have been able to get a good understanding of Barack Obama’s economic plans, or not?”,  after the speech 75% of respondents said yes compared to the 58% that said yes before the speech.  You can check out more of the CBS poll numbers here.

President Obama’s speech to the congress hit on the topic of the economy…obviously.  He talked about rebuilding the middle class.  He gave a clear vision of how bad this economy is while giving hope that things will get better.  The effects of the stimulus package was also mentioned.  I think his speech to the congress gave a clear and concise view of what this stimulus package will do.  If you missed his speech then I highly recommend you watch it…now and if you want to know more about the stimulus package then you can go to recovery.gov, by the way, it was reported today that the site is visited by 3,000 a day…that’s kind of crazy and refreshing for a site about a stimulus package.

Now, on to the bad stuff…Bobby Jindal’s speech in response to Obama’s speech.  Read the rest of this entry

Chris Matthews Said The Republicans Were “Outsourcing” With Bobby Jindal

Chris Matthews at presidential debate in Dearb...

Well, this was brought to my attention today by Alfie. I don’t find Chris Matthewsoutsourcing” comment to be particularly offensive, but it is racially insensitive to Indian Americans. Come on, to say that the republicans were “outsourcing” by using Bobby Jindal is really unfortunate. As much as I hate to say this, did Matthews consider the fact that Bobby Jindal is one of the few republicans that actually embodies true conservatism, almost good Governor…if you’re a republican, and he is youthful, younger then Obama I believe. He is what the republican party wants as far as Im concerned. Jindal actually used to be one of my favorites until I found out how crazy he was. The guy may be young but he is one of most uptight conservative you will ever know of. Anyways, enough of that, back to Chris Matthews. You can decide for yourself, but even though I don’t think he was being intentionally insulting to Indian Americans, but it was a racially insensitive comment. Chris Matthews just needs to stay away from the camera if you ask me. The guy makes insensitive comments all the time and I have grown really sick of him. Everytime I ended up watching his show, he always wants to turn an issue into something about race even if the initial subject was about the economy. Anyways, heres the clip, I could only find 14second clip but its enough to get the gist. Do you think MSNBC and Christ Matthews should apologize? I kind of do, or at least clarify the statement.

MSNBC Airs “Oh, God” Remark Before Jindal Delivers His Remarks

MSNBC

Not like we didn’t know MSNBC was a *little* bit biased like Fox News, but c’mon. Someone [EDIT: This someone happened to be Chris Matthews] at MSNBC that sounds a hell of alot like Keith Olbermann said “oh, god” right before Bobby Jindal was about to deliver the republican response to Obama’s address to Congress. Normally I would care more, but this could mean that someone at MSNBC can tell the future cause Jindal’s speech was an “oh, god” moment. I’ll actually have a little longer post on this tomorrow, but I just thought this was at least worth mentioning. By the way, who knows, but that “Oh, God” comment could have really been in response to Bobby Jindal’s appearance. I mean what the hell was up with that tie, and why was he so smiley when he came out. Jindal’s obvious performance was a major fail.

Alan Keyes Goes After Obama, Rehashing Old Campaign Lines

Bookmark Alan Keyes Goes After Obama, Rehashing Old Campaign Lines

Well, if you ever wanted to relive the 2008 presidential campaign over again then all you have to do is listen to Alan Keyes. He calls Obama a communist, brings up the whole birth certificate “is Obama eligible” thing again, as well as the classic abortion born alive crap again. I think Alan Keyes is still upset he couldn’t beat Obama for the senate seat. He also said the US will cease to exist under the Obama administration. Give me an f-ing break.

First Glenn Beck wants to throw out his ridiculous predictions on how the world is basically going to end after the Obama administration and now we have to know that Alan Keyes doesn’t even think the US will exist. Is this the new republican strategy? Scare Americans to death, which I’d assume won’t help them. If you ask me, I think this is just helping Obama. It lowers expectations for him, so when things do go wrong or go extremely well, the majority of Americans either won’t be surprised or they’ll be very surprised by a successful administration. In the end, the republicans need to provide us with ideas to help move the country forward instead of being obstructionist. Heres the video taken February 19th by KHAS.
