New DSCC Ad: “Hit and Run”

Posted on

New DSCC Ad:

I think this ad is great. It hits all the necessary point and points out what the republicans have been doing this whole time. The republicans have been complaining about the Presidents policies yet make little effort to contribute any new ideas. The ideas they have contributed are just the same ideas that put us in this horrible economy. The will be effective for another reason, it reminds people of the mess that the Obama administration has to clean up. This might also remind people that the some outspoken republicans want Obama’s policies to fail, and to borrow a campaign slogan, that’s just not putting “Country First”. Here’s the new ad put out by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, “Hit and Run”,

CEO of GM Resigns After Asked By The Obama Administration

Posted on

So, all President Obama had to do was ask the CEO to resign, and he agrees.  I wish former President Bush would have thought of that one before giving away billions to the auto industry.  This is from Politico,

The Obama administration asked Rick Wagoner, the chairman and CEO of General Motors, to step down and he agreed, a White House official said.

On Monday, President Barack Obama is to unveil his plans for the auto industry, including a response to a request for additional funds by GM and Chrysler. The plan is based on recommendations from the Presidential Task Force on the Auto Industry, headed by the Treasury Department.

The White House confirmed Wagoner was leaving at the government’s behest after The Associated Press reported his immediate departure, without giving a reason.

……….

Obama and his aides may have honed in on Wagoner for two reasons. First, his company is asking for the most in total federal aid: $26 billion, a figure administration officials fear could grow even larger. Second, the GM chief was tied more directly to the ill-fated decisions that that brought much of the American auto industry to the brink of collapse. Wagoner joined GM in 1977, has had a senior role in GM management since 1992, and became CEO of the company in 2000. He is considered responsible for increasing GM’s focus on trucks and SUVs—at the expense of the hybrids and fuel efficient cars that have become more popular in the last couple of years.

I think this is a good thing.  There is no way a CEO should keep their job if they can’t manage the business properly.  Though, the problem was Americans buying too many SUVs and trucks, its in the companies best interest to look forward.  It was obvious that eventually trucks and SUVs were not going to be the future of the auto industry.  Not focusing on fuel efficient cars is what helped bring GM and Chrysler down.  Then for GM to ask for $26 billion after already receiving 9.4 billion seems to suggest that the company hasn’t been making much improvements.  The Rick Wagoner resignation is definitely a step in the right direction.  Maybe the Obama administration can ask a few more company CEOs to step down…just a suggestion.

Steele Said He’s Done Reaching Out To President Obama

Posted on

Well, that was a long run at bipartisanship…not. It’s only approaching April and already Steele says he’s done with reaching out to President Obama. I’d like to know what Steele did to start reaching out to President Obama in the first place. I doubt comparing Obama to Nixon and trying to be cool by calling the stimulus plan “Bling, bling” is really “reaching out”. First, if you haven’t heard what Steele said, here he is in part of the CNN interview,

First, it is not a requirement for the President of the United States to reach out to a party chairman. It’s quite fair to say that he has been working with republicans in Congress. The President has more important things to do then waste his time with a party chairman that just throws out insults and can barely do his job. From what I have seen of Steele, there has been little to no effort to reach out to Obama, so technically he’s not done if he hasn’t started. I really don’t expect Steele to last more then a year as the RNC chairman. Steele showed not only a real lack of respect for the fact that Americans wan’t to see bipartiship, but also he displayed an odd arrogance during his interview on CNN. If the republicans are smart, they’ll replace Steele with someone who can articulate the republicans positions on issues that matter. I honestly don’t think Steele telling Americans that he’s done with reaching out is really the best way to go for the republican party.

The Obamas Are Not Using Tax Payer’s Dollars To Decorate The White House

Posted on

Now this is showing class and being in touch.  The Obamas have decided to use their own personal money and not the tax payers money on White House renovations, this is from NYMag,

At a time when people are having trouble holding on to their houses, Barack and Michelle Obama have sensibly decided not to use taxpayers’ money to renovate theirs. New presidents are allotted $100,000 to overhaul the White House residence and the Oval Office, and the Obamas hired Hollywood decorator Michael S. Smith (known, per his site, for mixing “Old World classicism with very contemporary settings”). But the First Couple isn’t spending that money. They “are not using public funds or accepting donations of goods for redecorating their private quarters,” says Camille Johnston, director of communications for the First Lady. Nor is the couple, who reported $4.2 million in household income in 2007 tax returns, using money from the White House Historical Association, a privately funded foundation that paid for a $74,000 set of china shortly before Laura Bush left town.

But does this mean they’re going to spend more than $100,000 or less? Though Michelle Obama has talked up Pottery Barn, Smith’s client list includes cost-is-no-object types like Rupert Murdoch, Steven Spielberg, and former Merrill Lynch CEO John Thain—for whom he procured that $87,783 rug. “There’s no question that he’ll get it done in the way that it’s supposed to be done,” says Smith client and Democratic donor Katherine Chez. “But how, I don’t know.” The White House declined to disclose the budget, saying that all expenses would remain private as a result of the Obamas’ decision to absorb the cost.

Eric Cantor Watched Britney Spears Instead Of Obama Press Conference

Posted on

Well, I guess we know where his priorities are.  Granted, Britney Spears is slightly entertaining, but doesn’t this guy’s job description also imply he pays attention to what the President is saying.  My question is, do they think this is a joke, or game of some sorts…cause I’m not getting it.  It is not cute or funny to go watch Britney Spears instead of doing your job.  I mean Eric Cantor , House Republican Whip, has a lot of criticism for Obama.  The next question should be if his criticisms of what Obama said during the presser are really valid if he’s not paying attention.  Maybe he and the other washed up politicians at that party aren’t taking their work seriously enough.  I don’t think Eric Cantor going to a Britney Spears event during an Obama presser is helping his cause.

I guess the new strategy seems to be say no to everything the President says, so really, you don’t have to pay attention to him….
