Oh, I’m sorry in advance as this isn’t a long post about policy, polls, or how the republicans are ruining themselves.  I just got finished watching the C-SPAN video of Pres. Obama going to lunch ordering cheeseburgers and speaking with patrons.  I was just so excited for the people working there, they seemed so happy.  I think the only one subdued about his visit was the lady from Ireland and some people that walked in front of the camera to make their way over to the food counter.

  1. But lets make it about polls and policy, especially since a very interesting one has recently come out. Pew just concluded a poll on media coverage of Obama in his first 100 days. Per Pew:

“Overall, roughly four out of ten stories, editorials and op ed columns about Obama have been clearly positive in tone, compared with 22% for Bush and 27% for Clinton in the same mix of seven national media outlets during the same first two months in office, according to a study by the Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism.
The study found positive stories about Obama have outweighed negative by two-to-one (42% vs. 20%) while 38% of stories have been neutral or mixed.
When a broader universe of media—one that includes 49 outlets and reflects the more modern media culture of 2009, is examined, the numbers for Obama’s coverage are similar, though somewhat less positive and somewhat more negative. In this expanded universe of media—which includes news websites, additional regional and local newspapers, plus cable news, network morning news, and National Public Radio, 37% of Obama’s coverage has been positive, 40% neutral and 23% negative.”

Interesting, no? Conservatives are insulted for their supposed conspiracy claims of a biased media, but here we have numbers that bear out that the media refuses to challenge or confront Obama on anything.

Here is another interesting tid-bit from the same report:

“The topics covered have also has been different for Obama versus his predecessors. Roughly twice as much of the coverage of Obama (44%) has concerned his personal and leadership qualities than was the case for Bush (22%) or Clinton (26%). Less of the coverage, meanwhile, has focused on his policy agenda.”

A concentrated effort to focus on the celebrity of Obama versus the policies he is implementing. Kind of scary considering he is dramatically changing the economic structure of this country without any consideration of what others might think, or what the Constitution and judicial precedent allow. Consider these numbers:

    Opinion of Obama (Approve/Disapprove) 67/32
    Job Approval 61/34
    Foreign Affairs 59/32
    Economy 55/42
    Terrorism 55/37
    Mid East 55/37
    North Korea 47/33
    Budget Deficits 46/48
    Federal Spending 45/51

Of course Obama wants a focus on him and not a focus on policy. Imagine what his numbers would look like if the America people truly understood what will happen to our economy and our spending ability with the current deficits. Wait till hyperinflation fully sets in, which it will, and the average price of consumables skyrockets because the purchasing power of the dollar collapses. We’re seeing the early stages of that happen right now. Or what happens when these completely fabricated numbers on jobs “saved or created” gets exposed? We were told that if we didn’t pass the stimulus, then unemployment would go to 8% by 2010. Wow, we did pass it and unemployment is 9.4%- and it is still 2009! And we haven’t even talked about the financial ramifications of nationalized health care or carbon cap and trade, both of which will be devastating for the economy.

Here is a great example of the cult like following that is going alone with Obama. Don Imus had a “so-called” historian named Michael Beshloff on his program recently. During the interview Beshloff claimed that Barack Obama’s IQ was off the charts and that he was going to be the smartest President that we’ve ever had. After touting his IQ several times, Imus asked Beshloff what Pres-elect Obama’s IQ was. Beshloff said he didn’t know and asked Imus what he thought it was. Imus said he didn’t have a clue because to his knowledge that information had never been released. Beshloff reluctantly conceded the point. 57 states? William Gates (Founder of Microsoft) is his Secretary of Defense (Robert Gates is his Secretary of Defense- you think he’d remember that)?

Really, take his teleprompter away or force him to actually discuss an issue off the cuff and his mortality becomes exceedingly obvious, but again, who needs facts when you have Obama.

Even Huffington post is slamming the media relationship with Obama. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/phil-bronstein/love-or-lust-obama-and-th_b_212875.html

At some point, there needs to be a truly objective analysis of the things he is doing to this nation. You want to know why people watch Fox News 2 to 1 to the other news outlets- objectivity. MSNBC is a joke and CNN isn’t far behind. The broadcast news outlets are just as pathetic, pandering and bowing. It has got to stop at some point…

  2. Not that I expect many people to take this topic on, I just wanted to throw out three other important polls (all from Gallup.com).

    Abortion: 51% pro-life versus 42% pro-choice. Last year, it was 44% to 50%, a full 15 point swing.

Gay Marriage: 57% against vs. 40% for.

Auto Bailouts: 59% against vs. 39% for.

America is a center-right country and they’re not going to appreciate this radical left agenda for very long.
