Really? Pawlenty Suggests The GOP Is Like Eminem

The question is, is Tim Pawlenty, Governor of Minnesota right.  I’d say in some aspects he is.  First, here is what Tim Pawlenty said via The Hill,

Opening his remarks with a reference to NBC’s “Inside the Obama White House” special, Pawlenty told the gathering of about 200 students, “I haven’t seen something that staged since that half-naked Austrian fell onto the face of Eminem at the MTV music awards.”

“Eminem was mad,” he continued, to laughter and applause. “And so, just like Eminem getting dumped on, we’ve got to kind of regroup. We’ve got to continue to fight. And we’ve got some things worth fighting for.”

Well, most people I know was laughing at Eminem getting…dumped on, tea bagged or Bruno-ed(?) on the MTV Movie awards.  Apparently Tim Pawlenty saw this as a great analogy to compare the GOP to.  By the way, lets hope the GOP is smart enough not to fight for the same things Eminem would fight for.  Eminem is an artist that, is a good rapper, but he kind of became famous by simply making fun of celebrities for no reason other then to “make noise”.  I definitely see the GOP as doing the same thing.  They simply call people that disagree with them “names” and offer no real solutions or substantive reasons as to why.  It’s true Eminem was dumped-on at the movie award just like the GOP gets dumped on for their lack of ideas and ability to rebuild their party for the better.  One thing is not true.  Eminem might be more likable than the GOP.  I’d love to see this comment resurface during the 2012 republican primary.  By the way, Inside the Obama White House was still more entertaining than the MTV Movie Awards.

  1. He didn’t really strike me as comparing the GOP to Eminem other than maybe his return after being away for some time.

But you ignore the main point of what he was saying- NBC’s coverage wasn’t objective or even honest. For crying out loud, Brian Williams bowed to Obama at the end! This is just the latest in a VERY long line of media outlets pandering to the Obama Whitehouse, refusing to challenge him on anything.

    Consider, per Rasmussen…
    Obama: Approval 62%, Disapproval 31%

    But-
economic outlook: better 35%, worse 59%
    consumer mood: positive 7 %, negative 59%
    Abortion: Pro-life 51%, Pro-choice 42%

Only 27% support GM bailout and 84% think it’ll fail. 31% think the stimulus will work while 52% think the Federal government is doing to much. Oh by the way, big government is seen as the biggest problem by the majority of the country.

36% say cutting the deficiet is the most important thing and 63% don’t think Obama will be able to do it. This is in the face of Obama pushing nationalized health care, of which only 29% of the country think is the biggest priority right now. Considering how no one read the stimulus package before it was rushed into law, likewise the dems getting a speed reader to read the cap and trade law- of which Waxman has admitted he hasn’t read himself- I’d be more than a little concerned about a rush to passing health care legislation. Can you name a single government run program that works or is economically viable?
    Amtrak?
    Medicare/Medicaid?
    Social Security?
National health care will dwarf all of these and we have absolutely no reason to believe that the government can run it.

66% and 67% respectively think gender or race impact a judges ability to make a wise decision and 83% support equal treatment under the law for all. So much for empathy…

Finally the Obama Justice department told the state of Georgia that it cannot use driver’s license or SSN info to confirm citizenship. 77% of Georgians completely disagree. This is in conjuction with the same Justice department’s political appointees overriding career justice officials in pressing charges against the Black Panthers in voter intimidation- something caught on tape and blatantly shown to be just that. Of course the Black Panthers were early supporters of Obama.

On issue after issue, the country tends to be non-supportive of the policies and positions of the President, yet the media doesn’t even begin to mention it.

We’re about to go through a third wave of foreclosures, a result of the continuous climb in unemployment. Obama claims he has saved 150,000 (based on what no one knows) in the face of loosing 2 million jobs. Also on the horizon is the commercial real-estate market collapse, the credit card collapse and the energy prise spike we will see with cap and trade. Anyone who thinks that we’re coming out of this anytime soon, isn’t looking at the simple facts of the matter.

So tell me, how should the American people respond to a media that actively panders and refuses to challenge the administration on any issue? We might as well be in Venzuela or Soviet Russia and its ‘open’ and ‘free’ media, or more accurately, propaganda.
