Really? Pawlenty Suggests The GOP Is Like Eminem

The question is, is Tim Pawlenty, Governor of Minnesota right.  I’d say in some aspects he is.  First, here is what Tim Pawlenty said via The Hill,

Opening his remarks with a reference to NBC’s “Inside the Obama White House” special, Pawlenty told the gathering of about 200 students, “I haven’t seen something that staged since that half-naked Austrian fell onto the face of Eminem at the MTV music awards.”

“Eminem was mad,” he continued, to laughter and applause. “And so, just like Eminem getting dumped on, we’ve got to kind of regroup. We’ve got to continue to fight. And we’ve got some things worth fighting for.”

Well, most people I know was laughing at Eminem getting…dumped on, tea bagged or Bruno-ed(?) on the MTV Movie awards.  Apparently Tim Pawlenty saw this as a great analogy to compare the GOP to.  By the way, lets hope the GOP is smart enough not to fight for the same things Eminem would fight for.  Eminem is an artist that, is a good rapper, but he kind of became famous by simply making fun of celebrities for no reason other then to “make noise”.  I definitely see the GOP as doing the same thing.  They simply call people that disagree with them “names” and offer no real solutions or substantive reasons as to why.  It’s true Eminem was dumped-on at the movie award just like the GOP gets dumped on for their lack of ideas and ability to rebuild their party for the better.  One thing is not true.  Eminem might be more likable than the GOP.  I’d love to see this comment resurface during the 2012 republican primary.  By the way, Inside the Obama White House was still more entertaining than the MTV Movie Awards.

Assuming most people would know the difference between Internet and Ethernet, I’m just going to show the video.

I’m sure he meant “Internet” but god bless his heart for trying to offer a solution.  Maybe he’ll after he “officially” loses to Al Franken in whatever court battle they have, then he could be the director of technological advancement over at the RNC…if there is such a position.

Watch Pres. Obama’s Whole Speech In Cairo, Egypt

President Obama was in Cairo, Egypt to address the Muslim population and America’s relationship with them.  This speech was another historic moment.  He mentioned and tried to build a bridge between the Jewish and Muslim communities.  Meanwhile, he told the audience that the relationship between Israel and America will always be strong.  He laid out the differences and similarities between America and Muslim nations.

He stressed diplomacy and to connect with the Muslim community he quoted the Quran.  Though I know those of the rightwing fringe will get ignorant and criticize quoting the Quran but to me that shows courage, intellect, maturity and a commitment to the peace process.  It’s also very important to connect the words in the religious text with goodwill because we know that those who want to do harm often twist the words of the Quran to favor their violent agenda.

He stressed religious diversity and thus tolerance.  President Obama emphasized his commitment to protecting the American people first and foremost. President Obama also noted the amount of aide being sent to rebuilding Pakistan and his efforts to diplomacy.  He also mentioned a very important issue of women’s right in that region, putting emphasis on education.  Later he went into the social aspects and technological advances to bridge the gap between with Muslim countries.  In the end, he offered words of encouragement and effort to build strong relationship. It was a really good speech and I hope you watch it if you haven’t seen it already as well as some pictures below.

Santorum Offers Obama Dating Advice And A Lot Of Assumptions

Maybe the real question is why is former PA Senator, Rick Santorum still on TV!  Anyways, he offers some dating advice to the president.  Of course he does this on FOX News which still makes jabs at the Obamas date night in New York.  In the process, of he blind sides views with a lot of assumptions about Africa Americans.  First, here’s the video via Think Progress,

The first assumption is that Pres. Obama’s date night is only to the benefit of African Americans.  From what I know, people of any race have viewed the Obama’s date night in a positive way.  Also, the Obama’s marriage is a model for all marriages.  Next, saying marriage is a bridge too far for too many African American woman and is not desirable to African American males is false.  And how would is be positive to take your wife to a bar and have beer.  At the most that wouldn’t be healthy.  Santorum’s dating advice is…weird if anything.  If he takes his wife to a hole in the wall corner bar, then that’s his purgative, but the if the president wants to use HIS OWN MONEY and buy dinner and tickets for his wife then that’s his purgative also.

Gingrich “Apologizes” For His Comment About Sotomayor

I’m assuming this is an effort to make his part look…more inclusive.  Or at least make good with some of the Senators that has criticized his statements calling Sotomayor a racist.  This is from The Hill,

Newt Gingrich says he was wrong to call Sonia Sotomayor a “racist” last week.

The former House speaker had blasted Sotomayor for suggesting that a “wise Latina woman, with the richness of her experiences, would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.”

“My initial reaction was strong and direct–perhaps too strong and too direct,” Gingrich wrote today in his Human Events column.

Gingrich added: “The word ‘racist’ should not have been applied to Judge Sotomayor as a person, even if her words themselves are unacceptable (a fact which both President Obama and his Press Secretary, Robert Gibbs, have since admitted).”

Kind of an apology.  Either way the damage has been done and since Limbaugh is also the defacto leader of the republican party, I think he should also apologize.  So, I know that’s not gonna happen but one can hope he acts like an adult instead of inciting racial tensions.  Gingrich on the other hand, I think, is apologizing because he has to.  If he becomes lumped with Limbaugh, then he becomes the next guy the republican senators will have to denounce.  Gingrich could not be taken serious as former speaker of the house if he continued to follow in Limbaugh shoes.  So, I see this as not an apology to Sotomayor, but as an apology to save his influence in the republican party.

Do I really have to say more about this?  I think the video of this idiot says enough.

Let me get out my superficial thought real quick.  I was a bit surprised at how deep his voice was, as I expected him to sound a bit like Ron Paul or something of a more squeaky tone.  Now, I don’t even think most republicans question President Obama’s eligibility to be president.  I highly doubt that a huge number of people will show up to these rallies other than to be spectators.  Watching people like this spew out their lies and conspiracy theories can be fun to watch.  The circus wasn’t built in a day I guess.  I’m assuming we’ll be hearing from these type of people until Pres. Obama’s 2nd term is over (yeah I meant to say second).
