Boehner Admits Republicans Have No Health Care Alternative Plan

Posted on

secret-planClearly republicans feel backed into a corner now that a moderate health care plan from dems was revealed, a plan that even republicans could get behind.  Even opposing this would continue to prove the point that the GOP is just opposing health care reform for political purposes.  Here’s the weird press conference that Boehner held today in which…well, we pretty much got insight into the republican health care alternative they were talking about.

Here’s the brief transcript via ThinkProgress,

QUESTION: Will the Republicans put their alternative online for 72 hours as well?

BOEHNER: Uh, we’ll uh, we’ll have our ideas ready. Don’t worry.

…………..

QUESTION: Is it your plan to have one Republican alternative that you all would get behind and endorse?

BOHNER: We have a number of ideas that we would like to proffer in this process, and we’re not quite sure how the majority intends to proceed. And so until we understand how they intend to proceed, it’s pretty difficult for us to have a solid plan.

At least he’s finally being honest with the American people or maybe he’s bull-shitting us, either way he just let us know the GOP doesn’t really have a plan.  All they have are “ideas” within their “heads”   Why can’t the GOP get behind a plan?  It’s not hard, we know what it is, it’s nothing.

Pissed Over Poor Ratings Campbell Brown Attacks White House and MSNBC

Posted on

Came out this week that even CNN is trailing HLN in the primetime ratings with Campbell Brown’s show doing the worst.  During the primetme hours, FOX News and MSNBC have their opinion shows.  Campbell is apparently pissed and decided to compare fox news with MSNBC and say the White House is hypocritical,

Clearly, MSNBC has a bias in their primetime sector and they know it.  However, the White House’s beef with Fox News is because Fox News actually campaigns against them, they help organize the tea party rallies, they make up lies and conspiracy theories, etc,.  MSNBC doesn’t do any of that.  Even when the liberal hosts go after the White House, it’s still not comparable to campaigning against the White House and organizing events and forming cults (like Glenn Beck).

I tend to not watch cable news much anymore but clearly CNN would be the least biased of the 3 channels.  However, Campbell comparing Fox News with MSNBC is extremely off-balance with reality.  Lets also be clear that MSNBC does more reporting-the-facts then Fox News.  Even in their opinion shows, Maddow and Olbermann report on the latest news stories.  With Fox News, sure, Hannity attempts to report (god bless his heart) but he has been caught several times editing clips of Obama to make it appear as though he said something he didn’t.  I’m personally no fan of Maddow or Olbermann but they do present the facts and then give their opinion on those facts.  Hannity and Beck fabricate news stories so they can have something to entertain their audience.

Hypocrisy Alert: Fox News Pissed At Health Care Commercial

Posted on

Really?  Do they really want to go there?  So Fox News primetime loons are pissed because of a video finalist in OFA’s video contest is “defacing the flag”.  Now Hannity, Malkin and the rest of the whackjobs have short-term memory loss and complain about the commercial,

Oh, now what’s this, Bush defacing the flag,

bush flag

Teabaggers defacing the flag

TEA-flag1

and what about Tea-Baggers trashing the flag…in trash,

trash5

and unrelated but this guy looks weird

Oh and the GOP’s dear leader, Glenn Beck not only defaced the flag on his little chalkboard on his show but he also thinks people should be allowed to burn the American Flag,

He’s entitled to his opinion but even trying to make an issue out of a video that was submitted to a health care video contest is undercut by the far right defacing the flag themselves.

Palin’s Pie Spy Business?

Posted on

palin the business womanReally ridiculous name for a business that supposedly sends pie to the elderly and disable.  Here is Rachel Maddow and Kent Jones talking about the Pie Spy business,

Is this the reason why she quit her job as Governor of Alaska??  To become an owner of a lucrative Pie Spying business.  Best of luck to her though…, though I think this will only raise more ethical questions, but at least she’s trying to make something of herself…

Blue Cross and Blue Shield Sends Awkward Letter To Customers

Posted on

Embarrassing.  The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina sent a mailer that announced that hiking of rates are coming while announcing their opposition to the public option.  This is exactly why we need a public option and I hope this wakes a lot of Americans up about the insurance companies. From NewsObserver,

Maybe it was just lousy timing, but many customers of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina are ticked off at the mail they’ve received recently from the state’s largest insurer.

First, they learned their rates will rise by an average of 11 percent next year.

Next, they opened a slick flier from the insurer urging them to send an enclosed pre-printed, postage-paid note to Sen. Kay Hagan denouncing what the company says is unfair competition that would be imposed by a government-backed insurance plan. The so-called public option is likely to be considered by Congress in the health-care overhaul debate.

…..

Indignant Blue Cross customers have rebelled against the insurer’s message, complaining that their premium dollars have funded such a campaign.

They’ve hit the Internet in a flurry of e-mails to friends and neighbors throughout the state. They’ve called Hagan’s office to voice support for a public option. They’ve marked through the Blue Cross message on their postcards to instead vouch support, then dropped them in the mail — in at least one case taped to a brick — to be paid on Blue Cross’ dime. Or dimes.

“I hope it backfires,” said Mark Barroso, a documentary film maker in Chatham County who is a Blue Cross customer and recipient of the mailings. “I’m doing everything I can to make sure it does.”

Barroso said his friends and neighbors have united to subvert the insurer’s message. Residents of a neighborhood in Durham have lit up an online chat room with discussion of little else.

“I went sort of bonkers,” said Beth Silberman of Durham. “You’re hostage to them, and then they pull this. My new premiums are funding lobbying against competition. It’s pretty disgusting.”

The insurance companies continue to show their ass.  Only helps continue to make the case for a public option that will compete with these companies.

Whoops, Limbaugh Falls For Obama Thesis Hoax

Posted on

limbaugh and Ledeen punkedSo the latest conspiracy has been about “Obama’s Thesis” in which Limbaugh alleges that Obama wrote about his hatred for the U.S. Constitution.  Oh how perfect would that be for Limbaugh if that was the case.  Good thing it’s not and now he looks like an idiot and gullible fool.  The whole thing was a hoax.

It started with a satire piece from another blogger, then another blogger, Michael Ledeen, took the satire as truth even though the post tag was labeled “satire”. Then Rush Limbaugh took that as truth and spread conspiracy theories about Pres. Obama’s thesis.  Ledeen claimed that Joe Klein had obtained the thesis and Klein came out with this statement calling it “nonsense“,

A report is circulating among the wingnuts that I had a peek at Barack Obama’s senior thesis. It is completely false. I’ve never seen Obama’s thesis. I have no idea where this report comes from–but I can assure you that it’s complete nonsense.

Update: Michael Ledeen now has apologized to me on his blog, claiming that he, Limbaugh and others were punked by a satire. I appreciate the apology…but I wonder about what the willingness to take this cheesy crap as gospel says about Ledeen’s–and Boss Rush’s–sensibility. Actually, on second thought, I don’t wonder all that much.

And there you have it, a hoax.  Now I suppose it’ll be too wishful of me to think conservatives will realize it’s a hoax and leave it alone.  But, well, I-know-they-won’t.
