This relaunch effort my Michael Steele has turned into a joke and a spectator sport for some waiting to discover the ways this website is a FAIL. First, lets address the fact that Michael Steele is trying to bring “hiphop” to the GOP brand. I don’t get it, he needs to worry less about hiphop and more about the GOP’s failing strategy. Other websites reported that the initial title of Steele’s blog entry was, “What Up?”, this is the latest title of his blog entry. The title seems to change with every new posting.
And notice how the first sentence starts out, “The Internet has been around a while, now”. Another issue is the “Future Leaders” page. The page doesn’t have any possible future leaders listed. It goes on to ask people to email who they think is a future leader. This situation is typical. The majority of the people most likely to send an email are those who are upset or angry, right now the fringe right wing are the most involved which means they’ll probably respond with most Glenn Beck for 2012 emails. Steele needs to put profiles up of young republicans moving their way up or else how is anyone going to take this seriously enough. The page does help narrow down the possible choices of future leaders to a possible 4 million,
You are – you, the people who make America work. We built GOP.com for you because we recognize you want a place to express yourself where our elected leaders —the people you elected to do your business in Washington DC—can hear, respond and interact with you directly.
Yes, you are – you. I can soo tell that Steele wrote this. Next, the website has an accomplishment section. I know, I know, why even bother right. But they list their last accomplishment as being in 2004 involving DC school vouchers.
Now don’t get me wrong, I do support school vouchers but it’s really sad that, that’s the last major GOP accomplishment, according to the GOP. Another failure was citing Jackie Robison as a GOP. The Plum Line points out that Robinson left the GOP after he criticized the party for their racist views. Apparently GOP.com doesn’t moderate user made/taken photos and pictures. Um, I’m pretty sure this picture isn’t supposed to be on the site….
Btw, this photo got two 5 star ratings. Well, there’s more but all you have to do it check the site out for yourself. I thought it’d be best to end with the cute drawing of Sarah Palin with pancakes on her head. Oh, and notice how the site shows tons of “real” minorities that are “apparently” republicans. Ahhh, giving the false appearance that the GOP is inclusive good job Steele, but I think people can see past that.
