Bye Bye, Chris Dodd Resigns

Posted on

Too early maybe, but TheFix reported that Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT) will not seek another term.  NBC’s Chuck Todd confirmed that the story was true.

I know I’m a lone democrat on this one but I’m happy to see him go.  His scandals was bringing his poll numbers down and would have most likely lost a seat the dems should have been able to keep.  The worst part was that most of his scandals involved financial issues.  I have no reason to think he was in the “right” on any of those scandals and I’m sure I’m not the only one that thinks that.  Anyways, this only made him look like a sleazy inside politician of the worst kind.  The fact that top ranking democrats would defend him or save his ass only reflected on the dems in the end.

Though, I will give him credit for his achievements and in the end he is doing what’s right for the democratic party.

  1. It really does not matter. With mid-terms coming, States everywhere are about to have different voices in Washington. The left can deny it until they are blue in the face(pun intended), but they know how sick and tired true americans are with pea-brained, socialist policies. For example: Why do you think there is such a rush to pass H.C reform? Thank you. I say good riddance. 2 years afterward, the good american people will finish the job. Perhaps in his arrogance, Dodd had rather quit, instead of being voted out. BTW, aren’t you going to be critical of him for quiting? *cough~palin~cough* You liberals are the definition of hypocricy.

    • um, I highly doubt the GOP would do any better and I highly doubt dems will lose big. I was critical of palin for quitting without even finishing most of her term, Dodd served 5 terms.

  3. Don’t mean to nitpick but I’m puzzled why you use the word “resign”. He’s retiring.

With Dodd gone and hopefully the defeat of Joe Lieberman in 2012, CT can start fresh with two solid Senators (Dems of course ;-) )

    • resign…retire, either way he’s leaving :P And what’s wrong with CT? Liebermann should have been gone a long time ago.

      • I don’t know how Lieberman got elected as an indy other than that the Dem ran a lousy campaign.

If we re-elect Lieberman, we DESERVE what we get. (Just like the Minnesota yahoos who keep sending Michele Bachman back to Congres).

  4. You are right about the 5 terms, Palin was a poor example. I give you that. However, when you say that the Dems will not lose big, may I ask what you base this on? The political tide is turning, and the signs are more evident then they were in 06, and you saw how big the shift was then. This hurricane is off the charts. Check the polls. Non-bias polls like Rasmussen. Yeah, CT and the rest of N.E will always lean left,(Oh and how I love Liebermann) but throughout the mid-west, east, bible-belt, people are chomping at the bit waiting for the polls to open. How can you deny this when EVERYTHING(except for maddow, matthews, etc) SCREAMS otherwise?

    • You can’t be serious. A few democrats resign meanwhile twice as many republicans resign and somehow the political tide is turning in the republican’s favor?

I’m not saying dems won’t lose seats, it’s what typically happens to a majority party. I just don’t think it will be big enough tide and with the Tea Party and ultra conservative candidates going after some within the GOP, they should also be worried if anything.

Rasmussen isn’t even a legit polling organization. It has been pointed out time and time again that Rasmussen leans right. I’m in the mid-west, specifically Michigan and when it comes to polling, the general thinking is that people would rather live with a democratic party then a republican party.

The GOP still has little to offer so though I hate to say it, people are most likely going to the poll to pick the less of the two evils and that would be the democratic party.

LOL … Rasmussen, a former paid consultant for …. wait for it …. George W. Bush.

    Too much!

    • I think Rasmussen’s sole purpose is to make any republican’s argument “appear legit” by giving them something to use as a source.

  6. Michigan? True, Repubs have no chance there-Palin said so herself. And while I agree that a split conservative base running against a unified Dem party is dangerous for obvious reasons- “30-30-40″- I do believe that conservatives will eventually unify, once again, behind the Repub party. And while the GOP is not terribly popular, I expect HCRF will be the final straw. BTW- Rasmussen polls only likely voters, not like every piece of welfare riff-raff the dems draw out.
