Rand Paul is still on his quest to screw over Americans. He’s now going after the unemployed. This is from McClatchy,
Republican U.S. Senate candidate Rand Paul on Friday urged Americans who have been unemployed for many months to consider returning to the workforce in less desirable jobs rather than continue relying on government unemployment assistance.
“In Europe, they give about a year of unemployment. We’re up to two years now in America,” Paul said on Sue Wylie’s WVLK-AM 590 radio program.
“As bad as it sounds, ultimately we do have to sometimes accept a wage that’s less than we had at our previous job in order to get back to work and allow the economy to get started again,” Paul said. “Nobody likes that, but it may be one of the tough love things that has to happen.”
Paul was responding to a question from Wylie about Thursday’s Senate Republican filibuster of a $120 billion package of additional jobless benefits and state aid. Tens of thousands of Americans will have exhausted their unemployment benefits this month without that extension.
Paul said he supports the filibuster. If the Senate thinks the bill is necessary, it needs to find the money to pay for it elsewhere in the federal budget rather than add to the $13 trillion national debt, he said.
“It’s all a matter of making priorities,” Paul said. “Some tough decisions will have to be made.”
So I can assume Rand Paul thinks many hardworking Americans that lost their jobs during the Bush Recession are just sitting on their couches, watching TV, eating Cheetos, collecting government funds. Also, how many low paying jobs does Rand Paul think are out there for the taking? Many have already taken lower paying jobs. There’s not much else out there in many parts of America.
He doesn’t support jobless benefits and state aid but he offers no other credible solution as to how to help people other than “tough love”. Paul said, “It’s all a matter of making priorities”. What does he mean?! Jobless Americans aren’t a priority? Leaving Americans that have worked hard but lost their jobs due to bad government and wall street practices aren’t a priority? Last time I checked, Americans with jobs was number one priority as they help the economy grow and America prosper.
Rand Paul is showing a complete lack of understanding on the state of America. His method of “tough love” is just another way republicans talk down to everyday Americans that lost their jobs because of republican practices during the Bush Administration. Continuing to kick people while they’re down by calling them lazy and simply telling them they need to find a job will not solve the problem.
