Bill Maher recently aired an old clip of Christine O’Donnell, Tea Party candidate who got the Delaware Republican party nomination for Senate, saying she “dabbled” in witchcraft.
I’d like to note, this might make for an awkward conversation between Palin and O’Donnell. To refresh your memories, during the 2008 election a clip of Palin at church surfaced where a pastor protected her from witchcraft. I’m not saying Palin should consider un-endorsing her, but at least consider getting re-protected from the evil that is Witchcraft.
On a more relevant note, after this clip surface, Christine O’Donnell cancelled all her Sundayshow appearances. Here’s O’Donnell’s excuse via AP,
Campaign spokeswoman Diana Banister cited scheduling conflicts and said O’Donnell needed to return to Delaware for commitments to church events and an afternoon picnic with Republicans in a key county where she has solid backing.
“The priorities are back in Delaware,” Banister said. “Those are people who supported her, who were very helpful to her in the campaign, and she feels obligated to be there and thank them.”
Banister said she was unaware of the previous commitments when she booked O’Donnell for the shows. She said she canceled with Fox News late Friday and with CBS early Saturday.
“We felt really bad,” she said, adding the campaign apologized profusely for canceling at the last minute. Banister said O’Donnell would be pleased to appear on any Sunday news shows in the future.
I’m a benefit of the doubter and this could have simply been a campaign screw up. However, things like “afternoon picnic with Republicans in a key county” is usually scheduled weeks in advance. To miraculously discover she has to go to church and a picnic right after a controversial clip of her admitting to witchcraft…seems pretty odd, no? I’m pretty sure she’s hoping to dodge questions like, “So, do you practice witchcraft?”. Must be tough question for her, huh?
