Oh, what a lovely time to be a democrat. The republican party could possibly put forth Donald Trump as their party nominee in 2012. I surely hope the rise of Donald Trump continues.
With Donald Trump mainly focusing on the birther issue, it is not surprising that republicans are in love with him. They crave any conspiracy theory and they would love a reason to easily beat Pres. Obama by default because they truly have no good candidates that can win a fair election right now.
But with the public attitudes of the republican and tea party being at a real low, they will need more dirty tricks to try to win an election.
While, for right now, Pres. Obama’s approval rating in this poll is 49 approve, 45 disapprove. Congress has a 73 disapproval rating.
Here’s Trump this morning on the Today show,
2012 looks like it’s going to be an exciting election can’t wait!
So the Obama campaign announced that Pres. Obama is indeed running for a second term by releasing a video. Then Tim Pawlenty, who obviously is going to run for President released his own video called “New Direction”,
Apparently Tim Pawlenty is a fan of the movie Inception (I’m a fan too) because the overly dramatic music seems extremely similar to the movie. Yet, maybe Pawlenty is in a dream within a dream where he tries to get Americans to think that Pres. Obama is not getting us out a hole Pres. Bush put us in.
Unfortunately the ad provides no substance and very little appeal as to why Tim Pawlenty would provide a “New Direction”. This ad was a fail for Pawlenty, it’s like, we’ve seen this before…how are you going to be different from any other fear-mongering republican?
Woo! 2012 elections are starting again…so early it may seem but so exciting this year will be. This is the video the Obama campaign released this morning.
Lets face the truth, it will not be easy. Unfortunately many Americans think the economy, education, and other important issues can be fixed in one term. But, fortunately for Pres. Obama, the economy is picking back up, jobs are actually being created, and the unemployment number is going down and with each report, it shows that private sector jobs are growing. Oh but remember when the GOP said Obama’s plans would only hurt small businesses? Obviously they were wrong.
Pres. Obama made many in roads with the middle class, offering a ton of tax cuts, that I’m hoping people and small business owners realize and are utilizing. The grant and stimulus money that has given me and so many other students the opportunity to continue education and get jobs in the academic sector. Both of which I have benefited from
Yet, with republicans in control of the house, the drawback appears to be that energy and environmental issues are taking a back seat and will likely not move forward. On the other side, with republicans only in control of key states like Michigan, Wisconsin, and Ohio…the short amount of time they’ve been in office, they have proven they can indeed screw up a state faster than we thought. I suspect democrats will be put back in control once the general election starts. The issue with the 2010 midterm elections was that of an older, more conservative electorate that voted. In the general election, a more electorate that represents real America will go out to vote.
So since the campaign is basically starting again, it’s never to early to direct you to BarackObama.com
Pastor Terry Jones, made headlines last year for threatening to burn the Koran on what he dubbed “International Burn A Qur’an Day”. Due to the pressure and increase criticism that this would harm Americans overseas including our military men and women fighting in Afghanistan, he didn’t burn the Koran.
But a few weeks ago, pastor Terry Jones decided he was going to burn the Koran in a “justifiable” way. First he put the Koran on trial, than after finding it guilty for “crimes against humanity”, then burned the Koran in church. This was quietly done with little traction in the media. Yet, this spread worldwide and angered Muslims and caused protests.
So, what is the consequence of the Koran burning? Oh, what we knew it would be, what we told Terry Jones it would be. Protests that turned into riot and then killings are happening in Afghanistan. Suicide bombings and killings of police officers have occurred and the U.S. military is obviously more strained. This is from the AP,
The desecration at a small U.S. church has outraged Muslims worldwide, and in Afghanistan it further strained ties with the West. On Friday, 11 people were killed, including seven foreign U.N. employees, in a protest in the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif.
The protests come at a critical juncture as the U.S.-led coalition gears up for an insurgent spring offensive and a summer withdrawal of some troops, and with Afghanistan’s mercurial president increasingly questioning international motives and NATO’s military strategy.
Two suicide attackers disguised as women blew themselves up and a third was gunned down Saturday when they used force to try to enter a NATO base on the outskirts of Kabul, NATO and Afghan police said. Earlier in the week, six U.S. soldiers died during an operation against insurgents in eastern Afghanistan near Pakistan, where the Taliban retain safe havens.
All this because some idiots in a church wanted to burn a Koran. This puts more pressure and resistance between the western and mideast relationship. Pastor Terry has no remorse for what has happen,
“We do not feel responsible,” Jones told ABC’s Nightline on Friday, speaking about his Gainesville church. “We feel more that the Muslims and radical Islam uses that as an excuse. If they didn’t use us as an excuse, they would use a different excuse,” Jones said.
But are these protests and killings an over-reaction and classic case of hypocrisy? We’ve all seen the images before, those depicting extremists burning U.S. flags, images of western leaders and burning the bible. You never see Americans protesting or rioting over their acts. Their anger might be justified, but rioting and killing is not. The ironic part might be that maybe their reaction is exactly what Terry Jones was hoping for. Maybe he wants them to hurt each other.
Another factor in all of this is that the protests and violence didn’t really start until President Karzai mentioned it,
The burning, at first, got little press in Afghanistan. But after President Hamid Karzai condemned the burning of the book and religious leaders called for justice in Friday sermons, thousands poured into the streets in several cities to protest.
From what I know, Karzai knows full well that Americans cannot be arrested or brought to justice because of burning a religious texts…and rightfully so as it is a form of free speech. So, would it really be Karzai’s fault for using this Koran burning as a tool to gain political points? Is it his fault for suggestion (basically lying) to his own people by making them think an American can be punished for burning a Koran? I would say yes. Karzai’ gave the impression that something can be done to Terry Jones and protesting and rioting will change anything in the U.S. If one is going to blame Terry Jones, then Pres. Karzai is equally to blame for stoking the fire.
At the end of the day, everyone played a part but everyone is in control of their own actions. Rioting and killing over a Koran burning in a small church is never an excuse.
Ah yes, the 2012 election has basically started already. We watch the top 2012 GOP contenders for President mark their territory, make mistakes (which they think will be forgotten next year), and schmooze to the far right. So far, Michele Bachmann stands out as the front-runner.
With earning more than Mitt Romney, which is a whopping $2.2 million, enthusiasm is obviously on her side. The Tea Party appears to be behind her 100%. And with approval of the Tea Party being at only 32% I doubt she would have any chance convincing Americans that she’s not as crazy as we think. Even if you criticize her speeches like the State of the Union rebuttal and other speeches where she gets historical facts wrong…none of that matters. She’s still putting herself at the front of the pack, addressing issues early on and she does stand by her positions no matter how crazy and unpractical they are. So, who are the Bachmann’s main competitors (for now)?
Newt Gingrich
The adulterer that criticized Clinton for having an affair, while having an affair himself. The guy that was for U.S. involvement in Libya until Pres. Obama got involved, then realized it’s not good Conservative politics to agree with the President…so then he decided to be against U.S. involvement.
He’s the same guy that also thinks America will be atheist and Islamic…at the same time. I should not even have to explain why that makes little sense, but he said it. Oh and courting evangelicals while taking millions in casino money? Yes, see, Gingrich’s main issue is that he’s a flip flopping hypocrite.
Herman Cain
Seriously? Who is he? Well, after a google search, I find out he’s a former CEO or a pizza joint, Fox News talking head, and conservative radio show host. Not like being a CEO of a pizza place disqualifies you as presidential material, but surely being an obnoxious conservative radio show host and Fox News contributor should.
In addition to being a Birther, he’s discriminatory towards Muslims saying he would not appoint any Muslims if he were President.
With the demographics of the republican party I don’t see Cain getting far. Michele Steele was pretty much the Tea Party’s first experience with seeing an African American in a high position in the republican party…he clearly screwed that up. You don’t think they’re going to think Cain would be any different? Aside from that, he can’t win a national election because he’s an anti-Muslim birther so any chance of winning in a purple(ish) state like Michigan, Indiana, Virginia and Pennsylvania is out of the question.
Donald Trump
He’s a birther. I don’t think there’s much else to say about him. He is obviously talking about this for show, he is not serious. Trump said on MSNBC that it’s the media that wants to focus on the birth certificate issue…not him. Yeah, sure, so I guess Trump forgot he was the first to bring up the birth certificate as an issue, and I guess he forgot that he’s the candidate and if he was a serious candidate, he would control his message and not let the media focus on him being a birther. But at last, none of that matters because Trump is only doing this for publicity. Even Glenn Beck thinks he’s not serious. Trump would never win, in 2008 Americans already decided they don’t vote for birthers.
Mike Huckabee
Definitely Bachmann’s biggest competitor in my opinion. He is crazy but a little less crazy. He is also a birther but not as public about it as Trump. Huckabee’s drawback is that he’s an evangelical christian that thinks everyone else should be too. Case in point is him thinking all Americans should be forced to listen to an evangelical minister. His religious beliefs may help win the GOP nomination, but never the national election. Middle of the road Americans typically don’t think anyone should force religion on anyone that doesn’t want to be forced. I would also say, that’s the American way. And for what it’s worth, he’s a believer in death panels. Yet, according to the latest Gallup poll, Huckabee has the most positive intensity among the GOP field.
I see no reason right now as to why he couldn’t beat Bachmann. I guess the only thing holding him back is from making crazier comments and being more of a publicity whore.
Well there you have it. The list of the viable top GOP candidates that might go up against Pres. Obama. You might wonder why Palin and Romney were on this list. That’s mainly because they aren’t in the public spotlight and putting themselves out there to be main candidates.
There is absolutely no one that stands out in the GOP field of candidates that can remotely beat President Obama. This will be painstakingly true if the unemployment numbers continue to drop and signs the economy is picking back up again continues.
