Culture

This is Vivian your expert (as far I’m concerned) on all things culture.  This is your place to take a break from all things politics (kind of) and relax.  Hey theres another writer for the culture page named Marc, enjoy.

Green Gone Wild!

Does the recent green revolution seem boring to you? Without the stamp of the hip, the mildly outrageous, the punk rock diva era we’ve all grown up in, gotten used to, and had to give in to in order to pretend to have friends and get laid?

Well, have no fear, Marc is here in order to help you both be green, fashionable, and marginally attractive to members of the opposite sex. I’m here to give the scoop in the newest of the green cool.

First off – Bikes.

The green way to make your 2 and a half mile slog to work in the morning sure, but where is the room for the stereo? the woofer? the amp? 600 watts of high quality car speakers pumpin t out, coolly letting you, and everyone else on your morning commute know that you like the beats born on the motherf***kin compton’ streets. Well some kids from NYC have a solution for you.

To guady? Not your style? Prefer the classics? Well New York Mayor Bloomberg has just the idea for you. Mr. Bloomberg wants to bring the blessing of green energy to all New Yorkers by inserting windmills on every single gosh darned classic NYC structure in the city. Say Hello to your new Brooklyn Bridge.

“But Marc,” you say, “Thats all well and good for when my feet are hittin the streets but what about when I want to hit the clubs, scope some girls(dudes), you know, get my green freak on?”

No worries, I’ve got you handled. Some enterprising Dutch designers have created a club (popularly known as discos there) whose trippy European lighting is powered by the movement of the dancers in the club. The lights are powered by the expended heat and gyrations and jostlings of the dancers on the floor. In otherwords, someone starts playing Hasselhoff in that European club and the lights go out; someone starts to play the puncuated mayday spanish rythms of hot latina singer Shakira causing the dancers to move and dance about like a church full of Pentecostals at the end of creation and that room is going to flood with more light than when Great White set that Rhode Island club on fire.

mmmm, papi, I in love with you; HOLD MEEEEE.

mmmm, papi, I in love with you; HOLD MEEEEE.

“Wow Marc, thats great, now next time I drop E and rave I can do so at the benefit of a smaller carbon footprint. Now if I could only figure out a way to do so without those chemically harmful snap and glow rave lights I slip under my tongue, in my ears, around my neck and wave about my head in a fit of sensual ecstasy.”

Hold on there partner, first, put an ice pack around your brain and stop raving. Second, I’ve got you covered.

A few too cool scientists at Purdue recently perfected the low cost, high power LED light. What does this mean? The low power requirement bulbs will likely soon replace all your incandescent and CFL bulbs, lower your electric bill at home, and probably make a whole LED light suit benefited from the power of a single triple A battery.

So dance away, and remember:

We can dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
‘Cause your friends don’t dance and if they don’t dance
Well they’re no friends of mine

-Marc-

    Bush Bashing…Please
I agree with the article, but Bush Bashing is being replaced with McCain bashing. I hope more and more people start bashing McCain so people know that he isn’t right for this country

That is freaking cool, speakers on a bike while being about to keep their balance while riding.
I don’t think guys will be able to get girls with these methods.
Sometimes people get too green. But I actually like the wind power Idea in NY. NY is getting bigger and bigger, they should start thinking about alternative energy. This way it sets an example for other cities.
I have never been to NY but I would imagine it would screw up the scenery for when I do decide to go to NY, but its a sacrifice for energy.

I don’t know, I tend to like guys who are very green. I think guys can definitely get girls by going Green Wild. It shows that care about something important to me.
As far as windmills in NY…Great. I think it will screw up the scenery definitely.
You can never be too green. But I think the real problem people have with being green is that it can cost a lot of money at first. But, people should realize it saves more money over time. I buy organic foods, it may cost more money but I’ll be healthier. So, Hopefully more people will go wild for green.
I think I’ll give those healthy Ice pops a try too, since they are getting good reviews.

Jason, your an idiot. Just because you care about being green doesn’t mean you are a nerd

New Yorkers should have instant success with that wind farm on the Brooklyn Bridge. New Yorkers all work together as you know. If the cabbies didn’t have enough hot air, there’s always the politicians on both sides of the Hudson!
